KARACHI: Committee ordered to manage institute

KARACHI, Jan 27: A managing committee would be formed for running the Monotechnic Institute for Computer Information Technology, Textile Dyeing and Printing.

This was directed by the Sindh Minister for Planning and Development, Shoaib Bukhari, during a visit to the institute on Friday.

The institute was established in Orangi Town Sector 7-C at a cost of Rs57.7 million. This is the first institute of its kind in the government sector where professional education is being imparted from Aug 2004.

The institute was established on the directives of the chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain.

During the visit, the minister felt that the standard of machinery acquired for imparting practical training in textile dyeing and printing was not satisfactory.

He directed the official concerned to establish a technical committee to bring to the fore the facts in 15 days’ time so that from the next academic year diploma classes of textile dyeing and printing could be initiated at the institute.

The minister also instructed that a managing committee consisting of industrialists, teachers, parents and elected representatives be formed to run the institute in an effective manner.

The director of the Sindh Technical Board, Dr Masroor Shaikh, assured the minister that his directives would be implemented in a prompt and comprehensive manner.—APP
