LONDON: A 27-year-old man was charged on Friday in connection with the alleged attempted bombings in London on July 21 last year, police said.

Scotland Yard said Muhedin Ali, from west London, faces two charges accusing him of having had knowledge of the alleged attacks. He is to appear before Bow Street Magistrates Court, central London, on Saturday.

The first charge reads that Ali, of Chesterton Road, north Kensington, “had information which he knew or believed might be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of Hussein Osman”.

On the second, he is charged with “knowing or believing that Hussein Osman had committed offences of attempted murder, conspiracy to murder and offences” on the British capital’s public transport system and helping him evade arrest.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place between July 21 and July 28 last year. Ali’s nationality was not disclosed.—AFP
