KARACHI, Jan 26: The Inter-city Seniors cricket tournament will be held at different centres of the country from Feb4 to March 23. The details of the competition were announced on Thursday at a press conference held at Karachi Gymkhana.

As many as 32 teams divided into two zones and eight groups will be featuring in the championship.

An estimated amount of Rs 1.6 million will be spent on staging the event and it carries prize money of Rs 300,000. The winners will get Rs.150,000 and runners-up will receive Rs 75,000.

In addition, the best player will get Rs 10,000 while best batsman, best bowler, best wicketkeeper and Man-of-the-Match of the final will be richer by Rs 5000 each.

Twenty-four teams will play in Northern Zone and eight teams will take part in the Southern Zone.

Karachi Lions will face Karachi Tigers in the opening match of South Zone at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium on Feb 4. The final will be played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore on March 23.

Group-1 comprise of Peshawar, Abbotabad, Mardan and Islamabad Ramna. Group-2 consists of Rawalpindi, Rawalpindi Greens, Dera Ismail Khan, Islamabad Pawindas. Group-3 members teams are Lahore Greens, Lahore Reds, Faisalabad and Kasur.

Group-4 comprised of Lahore Blues, Lahore Yellows, Sailkot Veterans Sheikhupura Lions, Group-5 have Sialkot Seniors, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura’ Stags and group-6 consist of Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal and Okara.

Southern Zone group-1 have Hyderabad, Rest of Sindh, Karachi Bulls, Karachi Panthers and group-2 contains Quetta Veterans, Karachi Tigers, Karachi Lions and Karachi Leopards.

Matches of Southern Zone will be played at National Stadium Karachi, NBP Sports Complex, Baqai Sports Complex, PCB Academy Ground and Asghar Ali Shah Stadium.—APP
