Police free three of 10 kidnapped men

DADU, Jan 26: Three persons kidnapped from Karachi were recovered in a police operation in the Khat Lashkar Village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, on Thursday evening.

Majid Hussain Zaidi, Faisal Qaimkhani and Tauseef Qureshi, were kidnapped by outlaws about a month back.

Police contingents under the command of RPO Hyderabad, Bachal Sangri, launched a search operation in the kachho area on left and rights banks of the River Indus including Laliya, KT Jatoi, KT Khera, KT Khushik, Sona Bindi forest, Kundah forest, Peeru Ji Dhandh forest and KT Sama.

Acting on information that the three kidnapped persons were held hostage by the bandits in the Khat Lashkar Village, Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka, the RPO constituted two teams of police who cordoned off the area, raided the bandits’ hideout in Khat Lashkar and arrested two persons.

During interrogation, they informed the police about presence of bandits along with three hostages in the same village. On their information, police cordoned-off the area, recovered three persons, who were identified as Faisal, son of Mohammad Hassan Qaimkhani, resident of Clifton Karachi; Majid Hussain Zaidi son of Shakir Hussain Zaidi, resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Karachi; and Tauseef Qureshi, son of Mohammad Tahir Qureshi, resident of Mohammad Ali Society Karachi. The police also arrested six bandits from the spot.

Dadu DPO Rukhsar Ahmad Khuhawar told Dawn on phone that 800 police officials of Dadu led by him and SP headquarters Hyderabad, Pervez Chandio, had cordoned an area of three kilometres around the Khat Lashkar Village and a search operation was going on.

He said that six bandits were arrested. However, he refused to disclose their names. He said that Faisal and Tauseef were exporters, while Majid Hussain was a prominent figure in Karachi’s construction business.

He said that the awards and promotions would be given to the police officials, who took part in the operation.

Police sealed all the link roads of the Khat Lashkar Village and different parts of kutcha and Kachho in Dadu district.

Jamshoro DPO Atta Moham-mad Chandio said 300 police personnel under his command carried out operation in Sama KT and Peeru Ji Dhandh forest. He said, 30 dens of bandits were destroyed, however, no arrest was made as yet.

Majid was kidnapped from Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block-7 on December 15, 2005, and an FIR was registered at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station on December 16.

Majid Zaidi’s close friend, Chaudhry Farooq told Dawn that they were in contact with police and had received information about his safe recovery.

Our Hyderabad Correspondent adds: Hyderabad police picked up a suspect in the district who was said to have provided a lead to them about presence of three hostages in the Khat Lashkar Hingoro village of Khairpur Nathan Shah taluka of Dadu district. The joint search operation has so far been conducted in the areas of Jamshoro, Matiari and Hyderabad but no progress was made. Police diverted their attention to Dadu after the lead. A police source said CPLC officials had asked police to continue operation in the aforementioned districts.
