HYDERABAD, Jan 26: A man committed suicide on Tuesday night by slitting his throat with a sharp knife in a hotel in Gharibabad in the Baldia police area.

The cause of the suicide could not be known. Police quoting his relatives claimed that he was suffering from mental disorder.

His body was received by his cousin who will send it to Punjab.

Azhar Masood, son of Falak Sher, a resident of Burewala, Vehari district, had arrived from Oman on January 22 and was scheduled to go to a hotel on the Hyderabad by-pass.

However, he did not arrive there and his cousin, Khalid Mehmood, kept searching for him.

Site police said that he had trespassed into a mill in their jurisdiction and fleeing from there he climbed the wall of an army installation.

He was caught and handed over to the Site police.

A civil hospital source said he had been brought to the civil hospital on Monday night as he had suffered injuries in his leg.

He was taken back to the Site police station where he tried to put his hand into an electric switch and suffered a burn injury. He was again brought to the civil hospital on Tuesday.

He told police that he wanted to go to Tando Adam to his relatives. A police mobile of the Site police dropped him at Gharibabad chowk at a hotel. A policeman told hotel owner to serve him tea.

As soon as police left, he moved swiftly to hotel’s kitchen, picked up the knife and slit his throat.
