DADU, Jan 25: An inspection team deputed by the Sindh governor has appreciated introduction of online examination and research at the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro during its visit on Wednesday. The team was led by principal secretary to the governor, Saleem Khan.

It inspected digital laboratory, dental institute, new girls’-hostel, shopping centre and administration block.

Briefing the team, the vice-chancellor of the LUMHS said that visiting professors from other medical universities of the world would teach latest research at the LUMHS.

He said the online examination system would be introduced in the university through an IT project.

The vice-chancellor said PhD programmes would be started with funding from the Higher Education Commission.

He said residential facilities would be provided to foreign PhD students.

On the occasion, Mr Saleem Khan appreciated various measures taken by the university to encourage research.

He said required funds and technical facilities would be provided to the university.

ACCIDENT: Ten passengers were injured when a Sehwan bound passenger coach collided with a truck on the Indus Highway near the Sehwan town on Wednesday.

The injured included six-year-old Sughran Lund, Abdul Hameed, 10, Jamshed Irshad, 13, Irfan, 40, Ahsan, 10, Ali Raza, Ghulam Shabbir and driver Arshad Arain.

They were taken to the Sehwan hospital.

PROTEST: |Over 40 councillors and six naib nazims of various union councils of the Johi taluka staged a demonstration outside the press club on Wednesday against the Johi ADOE (male).

The protesters were led by councillors, Pir Bux Babar, Mushtaq Ahmed Ghori, Ghulam Mustafa, Niaz Mastoi, Haneef Leghari and Naseer Leghari.

The leaders said a teacher of grade-10 was made an ADOE (male) of Johi due to political influence.

They appealed to the Sindh chief minister and education minister to take notice of the matter.
