KARACHI, Jan 25: Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui on Wednesday announced posthumous promotions for two policemen killed in encounters in Nausheroferoz besides a compensation of Rs300,000 each to the heirs of the deceased. According to an official statement, dacoits were robbing passengers of a bus after intercepting it on the National Highway in the limits of Bahria city police station near Nausheroferoz when police during routine patrolling reached the spot.

The exchange of fire took place between the police and the alleged dacoits and as a result PC Zameer Hussain was killed on the spot.

In another encounter at a house in the limits of Lakhar police station, district Nausheroferoz, a policemen Aijaz Ali was killed.—APP
