AJK reinforces foreigners’ security

By Our Staff Correspondent

MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 24: The AJK government has reinforced security for foreigners, particularly US citizens, engaged in relief activities in the quake-hit areas in the wake of Bajaur incident, region’s top police official said on Tuesday.

But Inspector General Shahid Hasan made it clear that the recent happenings in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas had caused no security alarm in the AJK where hundreds of foreigners associated with UN agencies and non-governmental organizations were looking after the quake survivors.

“The atmosphere here is altogether different. You won’t find a single person showing hostile feelings towards foreigners,” he said while talking reporters at the police lines where he earlier inaugurated an earthquake resistant guesthouse for VIPs.

The IGP pointed out that there were no fundamentalists in the AJK because the region had traditionally been very peaceful.
