QUETTA, Jan 24: The water pipeline to the Pirkoh gas plant that was repaired after 10 days was blown up again and a minor incident of firing near Dera Bugti occurred without causing any loss of life on Tuesday.

Official sources in Sui acknowledged that two separate water pipelines, to the Pirkoh gas plant and town, were damaged on Tuesday morning by explosive material planted by subversive elements.

The sources stated that it was the second time after hostilities broke out in the last week of December that saboteurs blew up the pipelines in Patarnal area adjacent to the Pirkoh gas plant stopping the water supply to the plant as well as to the town.

The sources said that the water pipeline to the Loti gas plant had already been destroyed three weeks back that could not be repaired owing to mines having been laid there.

About the repairing of the water pipeline to the Pirkoh gas plant, official sources said that it was not possible to give a time frame as the saboteurs had laid mines all around the plant. Later, one of them added that the repair work might take a week or even 10 days.

Official sources said that without de-mining the entire region it would be extremely difficult to ensure a normal supply of water to the Pirkoh and Loti gas plants through pipelines.

The Jamhoori Watan Party spokesman said that the situation was calm in Dera Bugti with the exception of one incident in which security forces had fired 12 shells on the northern side of the town without causing any damage.

BLAST IN WADH: A powerful bomb explosion rocked the Wadh town badly damaging an under-construction residential quarters of a school while in another incident rockets were fired on the Frontier Corps check post in Barkhan on Tuesday.
