KARACHI, Jan 24: Five-year-old bay horse, Lucky Step, is fancied to complete a hat trick when the Winter Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.

Lucky Step starts as our day’s best in view of his superior form. He is credited with two wins on the trot with jockey Riaz Muhammad in the saddle.

In the last outing, the colt bettered his timings in the five furlongs race finishing in 1 min 4 3/5 seconds. Earlier, he had clocked 1 min 5 1/5 seconds.

Six-year-old Puma King and five-year-old mare, Haseena-e-Arab should battle it out for places.

A card of seven races has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 1.00pm.

All the races will be contested on sprinting distance of five furlongs.

Khas-ul-Khas, a nine-year-old bay horse, should sprint to victory in the opener which has a field of 11 runners.

He should be chased by thoroughbred Pakistani Dhoom Machade and mare Rat Ki Rani. Since the beginning of the year, the former has failed to impress with his form on the track.

In a pack of 14 contestants, seven-year-old mare, Royal Beauty should make amends in the third race. She should be chased by Khush Nazar and Street Fighter.

King Of The Field looks certain to clinch honours in the fourth race. He should be followed by Gold Tip and Smashing Arrow.

Despite having a dismal run in the last few meetings, nine-year-old Desperado, should make amends. However, he will have to overcome Tom Cruise and Lucky View.

New Ferrari is on song to win honours in the sixth race. He was home by four and a half lengths in the Jan 15 meeting.

He should be chased by Canon Ball and Clapping for the places.

Victory Symbol, a four-year-old colt, is poised to clinch the concluding race of the day. Bilal Choice and Sweet Grandy should settle for the places.
