PESHAWAR, Jan 24: Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has directed police officers to take ‘serious’ steps for enforcing the government’s writ and evading social evils. Presiding over a meeting on the law and order situation in the province at his office on Tuesday, he said that reduction in crimes should be visible.
Chief Secretary Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, IGP Riffat Pasha, Home Secretary Badshah Gul Wazir and Peshawar Nazim Haji Ghulam Ali were among those who attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed ways to control the crime and eliminate its causes.
It was noted that the intelligence gathering mechanism should be improved to achieve the objective.
The chief minister said that coordination among the law-enforcement agencies was inevitable to check smuggling and other crimes.
Kidnapping for ransom, car snatching and robberies were discussed in detail and it was noted that these crimes were increasing. The meeting decided to take various measures to contain these crimes.
Referring to the law and order situation in Regi Lalma, Mr Durrani said the government was bound to provide safety to investors and other citizens.
