KARACHI: JI Shoora criticizes govt policies
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, Jan 24: The Jamaat-i-Islami Sindh’s Shoora has expressed concern over the increasing lawlessness in Sindh particularly in Karachi and the loss of precious life and property in tribal clashes in interior of Sindh and target killings in Karachi in particular.
It also condemned the government for the US attack in Bajaur, Balochistan operation, Kalabagh Dam issue and alleged conspiracies against religious schools.
In a resolution adopted at its meeting on Monday with Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui in the chair, the Shoora demanded of the Sindh government that instead of patronizing criminals and becoming a silent spectator, the government should take concrete steps to protect the life and property of citizens and to end tribal clashes.
Pointing out the free hand given to a party of the coalition government to target IJT workers in educational institutions and unleashing repression on workers of the Sunni Tehreek, the resolution said that despite tall claims, the government had failed to arrest the killers of Aslam Mujahid, Tahir Jamal, Munawwar Suharwardi, Mufti Shamzai, Abdullah Murad, Farhan Asif and others.
In another resolution, the Shoora expressed solidarity with the Ulema convention of the Ittehad Madaris
It expressed concern over government actions against madressahs for not complying with the US agenda and said the JI would not allow any conspiracy to succeed against the madressahs.
The Shoora in yet another resolution slammed the rulers for failing to control price hike, inflation, unemployment, and for not providing relief to the poor masses.
It also said that Pervez Musharraf had no legal or constitutional right to decide vital national issues including the construction of new dams or the NFC Award.
Meanwhile, it expressed concern over the prevailing situation in Waziristan and Balochistan, and demanded an immediate end to the operations and initiation of dialogue for resolving the problem.
The Shoora also expressed concern over the sufferings of the people of Sindh who felt insecure due to tribal clashes and the worsening law and order situation there. It demanded the government to take steps to end tribal clashes and improve the general law and order.
It also expressed concern over the government’s agriculture policy and said that growers were not getting proper rates for their produce. It demanded that proper rates should be offered to the growers, availability of irrigation water should be ensured in the province and the price and quality of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides should be kept under check.
