RAWALPINDI, Jan 23: A Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) official was booked on corruption charges, while a separate case was registered against a police sub-inspector for failing to comply with court orders.
A source in the FIA told Dawn that constable Shaukat was booked after a person pleaded before the session judge that the former had taken Rs100,000 from him and also framed a fabricated case against him.
Meanwhile, a sub-inspector posted at the Civil Lines police station was booked for deliberately not producing the documents of a truck despite receiving court orders.
MAN ARRESTED: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a man for sending an unemployed person to France using illegal means.
Mohammad Fiaz, a travel agent based in Jhelum, was arrested by an FIA team led by Afzal Niazi during a surprised raid on Monday.
Authorities said a person, Mazhar Iqbal, had requested Fiaz to send him abroad for employment purposes. The travel agent demanded Rs2 million for sending him to France but later they agreed on Rs1.3 million.
The authorities said Mazhar Iqbal was first taken to South Africa and then to Mali in November 2004. Mazhar also lost his leg in a landmine blast while crossing into France in February 2005.
