Telemedicine courses conclude at HFH

RAWALPINDI, Jan 23: As many as 30 participants, including 20 doctors and 10 nursing staff members, have successfully completed Telemedicine/E-Health training courses at Holy Family Hospital (HFH).

The graduation ceremony of the courses, arranged at the Telemedicine/E-Health Training Centre, Surgical Unit-II, was held on Tuesday afternoon. Rawalpindi Medical College and Allied Hospitals Chief Executive Gen Masood Kiyyani was the chief guest at the ceremony.

Prominent among those present on the occasion were Prof R.C Merell of Commonwealth University, Adviser to President on Science and Technology Dr S.T.K. Naeem, Dr Azhar Rafique, Prof Asif Zafar, Prof Hamid Hasan, Prof Imtiaz Ali, Prof Azam Yusuf, Dr Riaz Ahmed Sheikh, Holy Family Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Mohammad Hussain Baloch, Dr Salman Gillani and Dr Tahira.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen Masood Kiyyani congratulated the young doctors and paramedics who had successfully completed their training in the field of telemedicine and said they should remain in touch with the subject and train other medical professionals.

Prof R.C. Merell appreciated the dedicated spirit of the doctors as well as the paramedical staff members who had enthusiastically participated in the course and showed keen interest in the modern telemedicine techniques.

Dr S.T.K Naeem termed the project a joint collaboration of Pakistan-US and said telemedicine would open a new era of research in medical field. She specially mentioned the efforts of Prof Asif Zafar and his team members who extended every possible assistance for completion of the courses.

Prof Asif talked about the details of the course and said the participants also extended medical treatment faculties to those injured in the earthquake. Dr Mohammad Hussain Baloch said Holy Family Hospital was pioneer in introducing telemedicine treatment method.

Later, certificates were distributed among the course participants.
