BD ready to accept US offer on terror

DHAKA, Jan 22: Foreign minister of Bangladesh, M. Morshed Khan, on Sunday said that the country was ready to accept the US offer to establish a structured cooperation in counter-terrorism activity for enhancing the country’s capability to effectively combat terrorism.

“The US had given us the offer much ago and we are ready to accept that, but modality of such cooperation has to be worked out,” the minister told journalists at his office.

The US assistant secretary of state for South Asian Affairs Christina Rocca, who will arrive here on a three-day official visit on 26th, is expected to discuss the crucial matter with top officials of the home ministry.

In reply to a question, Morshed said: “We are open to discuss all issues’ with Ms Rocca who will call on Premier Khaleda Zia and also hold talks with the foreign minister and the state minister for home, Lutfozzaman Babor on the first day of her visit.
