Naved slams century

LAHORE, Jan 22: Naved Latif struck a century while Imran Nazir and Yasir Arfat scored half-centuries to help National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) hold sway over Habib Bank Limited (HBL) gaining a big 89-run lead with two first innings wickets intact in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I at Multan Stadium on Sunday.

Naved scored 167-ball 123, laced with 15 fours and five towering sixes as NBP were 350 for eight by close of play in reply to rivals’ total of 261.

Naved with Yasir (62, 119 balls, nine fours) plundered 164 runs in the seventh-wicket stand after NBP were in trouble at 174-6.

Opener Imran Nazir scored a quick-fire 58-ball 62 with nine strokes to the fence.
