RAWALPINDI, Jan 22: The Punjab government is following the policy of denying education to the poor children, terminating teachers from their jobs and depriving them of pensions and graduity. These allegations were made by the central president of Punjab Teachers Union Raja Zafeer Ahmad Satti in a statement here on Sunday.

The provincial government is pursuing the agenda of secularizing the educational curriculum in the disguise of education reforms, Mr Satti said, claiming that the so-called reforms would make the new generation oblivious to the Islamic values.

He said the government was following an ambiguous educational policy, and vowed that the teachers would launch a protest from a united platform.

Teachers in Rawalpindi would hold a protest meeting on January 26 in Islamia Higher Secondary School, Murree Road, the president of the union, said adding that the union would announce its future plan in the meeting.

He also appealed to the teachers to actively participate in the meeting.
