‘Opposition men more loyal to ruling party’

By Our Staff Correspondent

FAISALABAD, Jan 22: Former PML-N MNA Chaudhry Sher Ali said on Sunday five PPP and PML-N politicians had literally hijacked the parties and were running the affairs for their vested interests. Speaking at a news conference here, he claimed that Faisalabad was considered to be a fort of the opposition parties, which was proved with the success of City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef. But opposition leaders — MNA Raja Nadir Pervez, MPA Rana Sanaullah Khan, former MNA Mian Abdul Mannan, former PPP MPA Raja Safdar Husain and PPP MPA Raja Riaz Ahmad — were working in league with the government agencies, he alleged.

He said they had tried their best to ensure success of the ruling party candidates in the recent local elections.

He claimed that City District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef, a former PML MNA, had joined the ruling party during a meeting with the chief minister and the announcement would be made shortly. He said the ARD-supported candidate for the naib nazim, Sheikh Yousaf, had changed his loyalties owing to indifferent attitude of these politicians.

The PML-N leader further claimed that District Nazim Rana Zahid, instead of launching election campaign of the ARD candidates, had bagged votes for the ruling party nominee, Mian Amjad Yaseen.

He said in future none of the party leaders would be allowed to use its platform without taking the city organization into confidence.

All important decisions and policy matters would be brought before the public and the media from the city organization.

He said time had come for the exiled Sharif family and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto to return to their homeland and lead their respective parties.
