KHAIRPUR, Jan 22: The Sindh National Front has criticized the government for denying Sindh its rights and said all such moves will be resisted. Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, SNF leaders Ameer Bux Bhutto, Allah Warayo Soomro and Gul Mohammad Jiskani said that the Sindhi people had been deprived of their rights for 58 years and now attempts were being made to snatch their right over the Indus River.
They said that Kalabagh and other dams were aimed at developing Punjab at the cost of Sindh.
They announced that the Sindh Qaumi Ittehad was holding a rally in Larkana on January 28 in protest against Kalabagh and other dams.
They said by distributing sweets, the MQM had misled the people as they had threatened to quit the government as a protest against Kalabagh dam and army operation in Balochistan but they failed do so because for them power was more valuable.
Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: Ameer Bux Bhutto and Gul Mohammad Jakhrani said that President Musharraf was adding fuel to fire with his plans for construction of dams.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, they said that 40 million people of Sindh had already rejected the Kalabagh dam and were ready to sacrifice their lives to defend their motherland.
They said that the government should review its decisions and policies as implementation of any decision by use of force would not bring a positive result.
They condemned the army operation in Balochistan and said that it should be stopped forthwith.
Answering a question, they said that thousands of people would gather in Larkana, Karachi and Hyderabad on January 28, against construction of dams.
