By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Jan 22: A man was shot dead by unknown persons in Daman-i-Koh on Sunday, police said. The deceased was identified as Barrister Arshad Sheikh, 45, a resident of Asghar Mall Chowk. The incident came to light when some passers-by informed the police on Sunday morning that a body was lying in a pool of blood on a green area some three kilometres up Daman-i-Koh, Station House Officer Inspector Musarat Khan told Dawn.

The SHO said the police seized the body and shifted it to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for legal process. According to medical report, the deceased received two shots to his head from a 30-bore pistol from a distance of five feet.

The SHO ruled out the possibility of robbery as his wallet, mobiles and other valuables were still there.

The police also found a bullet of 30-bore pistol near the body. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, however, the police are working on various aspects.

SHO Khan said Arshad Sheikh had received a degree in law from London but did not practice his profession. He was a property dealer and also had other businesses in the twin cities, he added.

The police said Mr Sheikh went to Daman-i-Koh at around 8pm the other day but did not return. The deceased is survived by a Filipino wife and three children.

A source said in the morning someone gave him Rs300 and car keys of the deceased to a taxi driver at Khyber Plaza, Blue Area, and told him to bring his vehicle which was out of order.

When the taxi driver brought the car to the mentioned place the person disappeared, he added.
