Tennis: Hasham struggles against Mustafa
KARACHI, Jan 21: Promising youngster Hasham Khan dropped a set before advancing into the second round of Sindh ranking tennis championship defeating Mustafa Haider in the opening round on Saturday at DHA Club.
As many as 80 players are competing in different categories in the tournament that also includes several players from Peshawer, Hyderabad and Sahiwal.
Hasham after losing first set 4-6 bounced back in the match with his powerful returns to snatch next two games from his counterpart Mustafa by 7-5, 6-1 to enter the next stage of U-17 event in a two-hour thriller.
Talented youngster from Peshawer, Hidayatullah also confirmed his second round berth following his straight sets victory over local player Saadur Rehman by 6-3, 6-3. Ali Asghar, Abbas Raza and Sarmad Munir were the other players to reach the second round of the U-17 event.
In the U-11 event, Sheharyar Ahmed marked a one-sided victory after thrashing Muhammad Danish by 6-1, 6-1 in quick time. Sameer Farishta was the other player to sail into the second round of the event when he got walkover against Imran Azad in the first round.
