HYDERABAD, Jan 21: The chief of the transition wing, Qabool Shaikh, will hold separate meetings with officials of district governments of Dadu, Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas and Umerkot for resolving issues regarding distribution of assets, liabilities, funds and movable and immoveable properties, it was learnt through official sources on Friday.
These have been facing difficulties in meeting their financial requirements since their creation.
Sources said Mr Shaikh would meet DCOs and EDOs of the four districts in the coming week and sort out issues between parent and newly-created districts.
They said the new district governments were being ignored by their parent district administrations as far as distribution of assets, funds, sharing of documents, vehicles, properties and liabilities was concerned. “This is hampering the pace of development work and also causing problems in preparing budgets,” said a source.
Another source said the secretary for the local government had asked the chief of the transition wing to meet officials of districts governments where such issues were still pending and resolve them amicably.
In case of the Jamshoro district, officials are preparing a Rs90 million deficit budget because the district government has not been given its share of funds/savings which were available when Dadu was bifurcated into two districts in December 2004.
In the last week of December 2005, the additional chief secretary, planning and development, Ghulam Sarwar Khero, had met DCOs and district nazims of seven districts and assured them that the issues would soon be resolved.
