US invites woman councillor
PESHAWAR, Jan 21: A local leader of the People’s Party Parliamentarians and member of the Peshawar District Council has been invited by the US government for a capacity-building programme about local government system.
Shazia Tehmas Khan, member of PPP foreign liaison committee, is the only woman councillor from the country selected for the US government’s state and local government (training) programme for Pakistani and Afghan legislators.
During her stay in the US from Jan 21 to Feb 10, she will study functions of executive, legislative and judicial branches of a government and constitutional separation of powers.
