KARACHI, Jan 21: Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman has urged officials of the agriculture department and DCOs to ensure timely completion of the National Programme for Imp-lementation of Watercourses.

Chairing a meeting in his office on Saturday, he stressed the need for a foolproof and efficient strategy to help attain the objectives of the lining of watercourses and support the agricultural sector.

The meeting noted that 5,000 watercourses would be built under the programme and services of people in the field would be acquired on contract basis to meet shortage of manpower.

Finance and Agriculture departments were asked to see that the required funds were released timely. Agriculture officials and DCOs were asked to adopt a comprehensive and efficient monitoring system so that any hindrance that might be faced could be removed.—APP
