RYK bar members flay US airstrike

By Our Correspondent

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Jan 20: The District Bar Association, Rahim Yar Khan, on Friday held a protest meeting against the US airstrike in Damadola area in Bajaur Agency, which left nearly 20 people dead. The lawyers criticized the government for its failure to stop the US attack.

DBA President Khalid Hashmat advocate, vice-president Tariq Hameed advocate, secretary-general Mirza Bilal advocate, joint secretary Zubair Ahmad and other senior lawyers spoke at the protest meeting held at the city centre chowk, denouncing the US attack on civilians in Bajaur Agency.

They said the government’s pro-America stance had encouraged the US forces to kill innocent people and the attack had proved that they had no respect for Pakistan’s borders.

It was also evident that the country’s defence was vulnerable as foreign troops could cross over without any resistance.

Banners and placards the lawyers had held were emblazoned with the slogans against government’s policies and submissive attitude towards the US.
