NAWABSHAH, Jan 19: Journalists of the city observed a token hunger strike here on Thursday to demand arrest of attackers of a local journalist. The strikers were led by Akhtar Rind and Zulfiqar Ali Khaskheli. Adam Jamali, president of the Sarhari press club, had been kidnapped and tortured by some influential persons on Eid day. He was admitted to the People’s Medical College Hospital when he was found to have fractures.

The protesters said that police were not registering an FIR and the culprits were roaming freely.

They urged the authorities to direct police to arrest the criminals and provide security to the journalist. Activists of various political and social organizations also joined the strikers’ camp.
