Release of Mannu Bheel’s family urged

By Our Correspondent

MITHI, Jan 19: The Tharparkar district council has demanded that the government should locate family members of Mannu Bheel and get them released. Moving a resolution in the session on Thursday, council member Himraj Bheel said that justice be provided to aggrieved family by releasing members of the family from confinement of Abdul Rehman.

The council unanimously passed the resolution.

Moving another resolution, Arbab Abdul Malik pointed out that a representative of the district government must be taken as a member of the governing body of coal affairs to safeguard interests of locals.

After heated arguments, the council passed the resolution and demanded that the government should appoint the district nazim as a member of the governing body.

Abdul Aziz Bajir said basic health units and dispensaries in remote parts of the district were lacking doctors and medicines.

Exchanging heated arguments, Arbab Abdul Malik, Siddique Daal and Ramzan Maalkani drew attention of the council to the fact that scores of doctors, having domiciles of Thar, were serving in big hospitals and did not serve in their native district even for a single day.

They said more than 50 per cent posts of doctors were lying vacant since couple of years due to shortage of doctors.

The council passed a resolution and demanded that the government should take appropriate remedial measures in this regard.

A number of other resolutions were also passed at the session urging the government to provide schools, link roads, repair school buildings and ensure availability of teachers at schools.

About 55 members, including women councillors, attended the session which was presided over by convener Abdul Karim Rahimoo.
