Seven missiles fired on Bannu cantonment

BANNU, Jan 17: At least seven missiles were fired on the Bannu cantonment on Monday night. One of the missiles fired from Baka Khail area near Kachkot canal hit a house near the cantonment police station in Hasan Khail Sokari, injuring Umer Khan of Karak district.

Six missiles exploded in the military farm area. Some nearby buildings, an electric transformer and its wires were damaged in the explosions.

Bannu range police chief Abdul Wadood Shah told this correspondent that that the attacks were being carried out in reaction to the Waziristan operation and the cantonment area had been targeted 13 times since the action had been launched.

He said a gang involved in such attacks was arrested in May last year.

He said the missiles could have been fired by one or two people without launchers.
