Pakistan lost advantage: Imran

Published January 18, 2006

LAHORE, Jan 17: Former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan thinks that Pakistan has lost initial psychological advantage over India in the current series following a ruthless batting display by Virender Sehwag in company of Rahul Dravid in first Test.

“Pakistan has lost the advantage which they enjoyed at start of the series,” Imran said.

Although Imran said the flat pitch at Gaddafi stadium was not providing any assistance to bowlers but he hinted that Pakistan bowlers were expected to trouble famed Indian batting line-up.

Elaborating his point, Imran, who had led his country to World Cup triumph in 1992, said, “Pakistani bowlers led by Shoiab Akhtar had destroyed England team only recently on these same placid pitches but now they are being smashed around the ground by these two Indian batsmen.”

“Mind you Pakistan had beaten England side which had beaten Australia and hence the team was favourite at beginning of the series. But now they will be under additional psychological pressure,” Imran said.—Agencies
