HYDERABAD, Jan 17: Seraikistan Qaumi Movement president Hameed Akhtar Shaheen has alleged that Ghulam Mustafa Khar has rejoined the PPP to carry out a ‘special mission’. He also alleged that like Pir Pagara in Sindh, Farooq Ahmad Leghari and Ghulam Mustafa Khar were pursuing the government agenda in Punjab.
He was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday. Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party leaders Hoat Khan Gadhi and Nandlal Malhi were also present.
Mr Shaheen, who is also president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, Seraiki belt chapter, observed that the Kalabagh dam and the greater Thal canal were more harmful to the Seraiki belt than Sindh. He said that unless the 1973 constitution was scrapped, no province would be able to get its rights.
Calling for creating a separate province of ‘Seraikistan’, he said the very demography of the Seraiki belt was being changed with the construction of the greater Thal canal. He said maintained that even the Kachhi canal was harmful for the Seraiki area.
He claimed that the return of Mustafa Khar to the PPP indicated that some understanding had been reached between the party and the government.
He said Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain was a man of the GHQ and he was paying only lip-service on the Kalabagh dam and the Balochistan operation issues.
Mr Shaheen said the 1973 constitution had become redundant, adding that problems of the country could not be resolved till a new constitution was drafted by a new constituent assembly.
Expressing solidarity with the people of Sindh, he said he had come here to participate in the Jan 18 anti-Kalabagh dam rally in Hyderabad.
DEMONSTRATION: Activists of the Sindh Hari Committee held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday against the proposed construction of the Kalabagh dam and the ongoing army operation in Balochistan.
They expressed solidarity with Balochs and said Sindhis would not leave them alone.
