ISLAMABAD, Jan 17: The Senate Committee on Human Rights on Tuesday discussed the issue of alleged human rights violations in Dera Bugti. The committee met here in the Parliament House with Senator Dr Khalid Ranjha in the chair, says a press release issued by the Senate Secretariat.

The committee decided to precede to Dera Bugti for on-the-spot investigations into the allegation of human rights violations in the area. It was decided that the committee would visit Dera Bugti soon after return of its Chairman Senator S M Zafar from abroad on January 20th.

The Committee was told that its chairman had desired the visit to be arranged after his return.

The meeting was attended by Senators Mrs Nighat Mirza, Mrs Abida Saif advocate, Muhammad Abbas Komaili, Mouhim Khan Baloch, Farhatullah Babar and Dr Muhammad Said while Senator Amanullah Kanrani attended the meeting on a special invitation. Senior officers of the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs and the Human Rights Wing were also present.—APP
