RAWALPINDI, Jan 17: Rawal Town Nazim Sheikh Rashid Shafique has said the Punjab chief minister’s special traffic management plan would help control traffic congestion in the city.
He stated this during a visit to Union Council No.11 here on Tuesday.
The nazim said traffic congestion had assumed serious condition and the local government was taking all necessary steps to solve the problem.
He said steps were being taken to resolve the issue with the help of business community. In this regard, the tehsil municipal administration had launched a campaign against encroachment along the roads.
The nazim appreciated the chief minister’s decision to put into action traffic management and traffic engineering plan to control congestion in five big cities of the province. He expressed the hope that the plan would solve the problem.
Earlier, during his visit to Union Council No.11, the nazim listened to the problems of the residents and directed the TMA officials to improve sanitation in the area forthwith.
He also emphasized the need for cooperation by citizens and traders to make the city clean and beautiful.
Union Council No.11 NAzim Nasarullah Khan Jiral, Naib Nazim Muhammad Amin Butt and residents of the area apprised the Rawal Town nazim about their problems like unavailability of potable water and poor sanitation. The nazim assured them that the TMA of Rawal Town would leave no stone unturned in solving their problems.
