Constable killed on land row

KASUR, Jan 16: A police constable and his attacker were killed near Kot Radha Kishan, some 40km from here on Monday.

According to Investigation SP Dr Rizwan Zafar, constable Muhammad Ashraf along with his father and brother was asleep at a poultry farm in Atari Ajeet Singh when some armed men shot him dead. His father and brother retaliated. As a result, an accused identified as Tufail alias Dogar received bullet injuries and took refuge in the sugarcane field.

On receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested the outlaw who later succumbed to his injuries. The accused had been declared as proclaimed offender in a murder case, the SP said.

He said Ashraf’s family had a dispute over a piece of land with the accused party. Police are conducting raids to arrest his accomplice Nisar alias Shahri. —APP
