Rs180m for gas supply

BAHAWALPUR, Jan 16: The federal government has sanctioned Rs180 million for gas supply to low-income localities in Bahawalpur city. This was stated by district nazim Tariq Cheema while talking to newsmen here on Monday.

He said work on dualization of Ahmadpur Road from Fowara Chowk to Karachi Morr will start in February. An amount of Rs10 million would be spent on the construction of the bus stand.

He said the tehsil government would purchase, within two months, 12 hydraulic tractors along with 175 handcarts for sanitation of the city. The district government would purchase two mechanical cleaners for cleanliness. Four new parks would also be developed in the city, he said.

CONDEMNED: The journalist community has condemned the lockout of the local press club building by the outgoing body.

The journalists called on district nazim Tariq Cheema on Monday who asked DCO Mohammad Ashraf to look into the matter.

CM’S ORDER: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has ordered termination of absent teachers in urban and rural government schools.

Taking note of the continuous absence of thousands of teachers from schools, the chief minister has called a report from district education officers.

According to an estimate, about 70,000 teachers were reported absent from duty during the past many months.

The CM has also directed action against corrupt officials of the education department and asked the Anti-Corruption Establishment to proceed against them.
