LAHORE, Jan 15: India has confirmed its participation in the seventh Asian Baseball Cup to be held at Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi from April 20 to 26. An official at Pakistan Federation of Baseball and Softball Khawar Shah said that besides India and hosts Pakistan, five other countries of the region including Thailand, Sri Lanka, Iran, Hong Kong and Mongolia had also confirmed their participation.
He said that the Asian body of the game had sent the confirmation of all six foreign countries through a letter received last week.
He said that the president of the federation Shaukat Javed would announce different committees and the names of main sponsor and co-sponsor soon to conduct the event in a better way.
The secretary said that the training camp to prepare the national team for the event would start in Lahore in the first week of Feb.
He said that South Korea had promised the federation of providing a coach to Pakistan to hone the skills of the players.
He said that Pakistan had fifth ranking in Asia and it had chances to win the event.
