Hussey’s ODI average streets ahead

BRISBANE, Jan 15: Australian Michael Hussey’s One-day International average is now more than twice his nearest rival’s after another outstanding innings against South Africa in their tri-series clash at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Sunday. Hussey, nicknamed ‘Mr Cricket’, helped rescue the Australian innings with 73 from 107 balls to maintain a phenomenal career average that now stands at 142.2 from 23 matches.

England’s Kevin Pietersen ranks second on the list with 888 runs from 25 matches at 68.31 while former Australian international Michael Bevan (6,912 runs at 53.58) is third.

West Indian great Sir Viv Richards lies in equal fifth position after a 187-match career yielded 6,721 runs at 47.—AFP
