Constable shot dead by robbers

GUJRANWALA, Jan 15: A constable was killed while another was seriously injured by four robbers near Sohdra on Saturday evening. Reports said that armed robbers were busy in looting passersby near Chungi on Daska Road when two constables on patrol duty reached there. Apprehending their arrest, the outlaws opened fire on policemen, killing Muhammad Arshad instantly and seriously wounding Shabbar Husain. He was shifted to a Lahore hospital in critical condition.

On receiving information, Wazirabad ASP Rana Abdul Jabbar along with other officers and staff reached the spot, but the bandits by that time had disappeared.

Revenue record: The land revenue record is being computerized to avoid land-grabbing and making the property transfer system transparent.

This was stated by provincial revenue minister Gul Hamid Khan Rokhri while speaking at a meeting here on Sunday.

He said all revenue officers had been directed to prepare the record of property and land for computerization. He warned that corrupt patwaris and other officers would be taken to task if they failed to improve their efficiency.

SHOT AT: A trade company manager was shot at by robbers in Kot Ladha here on Sunday.

Sarfraz was going on a motorcycle when he was intercepted by three armed men. They deprived him of cash and his two-wheeler and opened fire when he put up resistance. The injured was taken to the local DHQ Hospital in critical condition.
