KARACHI, Jan 15: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal has constituted a committee of experts to present suggestions to reform the present system of education. “In the light of these suggestions a policy will be made to bring improvements in the overall education system,” said the nazim while speaking at a private school’s ceremony in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

Mr Kamal was of the view that the city government alone could not make a big difference in this regard and highlighted the significance of public-private partnership for achieving this goal.

He asked educationists and all those people, who want to see books in the hands of the children, to come forward and make whatever contribution they could in this connection.

The nazim held out the assurance that their efforts would be fully patronized by the government. “Karachi houses a population of 20 million people and when we talk about its development we mean progress and prosperity of the whole country.”

He said this city contributed 68 per cent to the national exchequer which made possible execution of developmental works in the entire country.

Federal Minister for Housing Safwanullah, KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui also spoke.—APP
