SUKKUR, Jan 14: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah has directed executive engineer (buildings) to ensure that dialysis and intensive care unit in the civil hospital starts functioning within fifteen days. He was reviewing development schemes of health and education sectors in a meeting with executive district officers of both the departments, according to an official press release issued on Saturday.
Health EDO told the meeting that repair work of 16 basic health centres would be completed soon and 137 specialist doctors and a paramedical staff of 53 persons would be required for the centres.
He said a training program for midwives would continue.
The EDO said there was a need to replace spring beds from the civil hospital which would cost them Rs1.5 million.
He informed the meeting that gynaecology unit was being shifted to the Chablani hospital from the civil hospital.
The district nazim directed the EDO to prepare a proposal of dental surgeons and surgical instruments of eyes for the Pano Akil Hospital.
Later, District Coordination Officer Shafique Ahmed Khoso informed the meeting that Dr Farhat had been appointed as honorary secretary of the Red Crescent Hospital in Sukkur.
