KARACHI: Children enjoy Eid

Published January 14, 2006

KARACHI, Jan 13: Karachiites performed the ritual of “qurbani” (sacrifice of animals) on the third day of Eidul Azha on Friday. A significant number of children, meanwhile, enjoying the festival as well as long vacations, thronged open spaces to make optimum of the festivity.

Despite reopening of offices of all government departments and organizations on Friday, along with all other private sector institutions, ambience of festivity largely prevailed and people were seen greeting each other.

All major commercial centres and markets remained closed, providing children and youth a field day - playing cricket and football at many of the major thoroughfares.

It was also since morning that children in groups reached the Quaid-i- Azam’s mausoleum and offered fateha at the mazar of Quaid and his companions, including his sister Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.—APP
