KARACHI, Jan 13: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Friday visited different localities of the city for over three hours to take stock of the sanitation work especially with regard to the removal of offal during Eid.

City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal, DCO Fazlur Rehman, DIG Operation Mushtaque Shah and others accompanied the governor.

The city nazim briefed the governor on the arrangements made for the removal of offal.

Dr Ibad said that although 20 per cent more animals were slaughtered this year in Karachi but the sanitation was satisfactory due to better arrangements.

It was a big challenge for the city government, which it met successfully; he said adding that the citizens should note this change and improvement in the performance of the city government.

The governor also visited Manghopir hills and directed the authorities to undertake a survey and clear the hills of encroachments. Later he visited the beach park and the coastal belt.

Earlier, on the first day of Eid, the governor offered prayers at the Bagh-i-Jinnah and later met the general public at the Governor’s House.

The governor, on the second day of Eid visited the Liaquatabad Town and inspected the Nazimabad collection point and appreciated the offal disposal operation and sanitation arrangements in the town.

NAZIM: City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal and City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil on the first day of Eidul Azha, also visited the Liaquatabad Town.

Town Naib Nazim Tasneemul Hassan Farooqui, TMO Ghufran Ahmed and other town officials were also present on the occasion.

The city nazim during his visit went to the Liaquatabad Collection Point.

He expressed satisfaction over the entire offal disposal operation and praised the workers.

Ms Jalil also lauded the swift offal disposal arrangements, especially from congested areas and katchi abadis.

Meanwhile, the naib nazim said that the expenses saved through proper dumping of offal at fixed landfill sites near the towns would be utilized for providing greater services to the citizens.

“The town administrations did not have to travel long-distanced landfill sites at Jam Sakro for the disposal of offal and thus a good quantity of diesel was saved besides time”, she said while talking to people during her visit to various towns to review the work of offal-lifting on the second day of Eid.

She also visited various towns of the city on the first day of Eid along with town nazims and other town officers.—PPI/APP
