Uzbekistan suspends NGO
TASHKENT, Jan 13: Uzbek authorities have suspended the activities of a US non-governmental organization (NGO) for six months for breaking Uzbek law, the head of the group’s Tashkent office said on Friday.
The office of Freedom House was closed by a court ruling after the Uzbek justice ministry accused the organisation of unlawfully providing free Internet access to Uzbek human rights activists.—AFP
