President, PM urge nation not to forget quake victims

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz praising the nation for demonstrating an exemplary spirit of sacrifices and brotherhood for the quake victims during their testing hour have called on the nation to remember affected people on Eid day, not to forget the needy and the weaker segments of the society.

In their separate messages on the occasion of Eidul Azha, President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have conveyed their heartiest felicitations to all Muslim brethren.

President Musharraf in his message said: “Islam is a religion of peace and condemns all forms of violence and abuse and we should not hesitate in making sacrifices for upholding the teachings of Islam”.

The philanthropists should not hesitate in extending all forms of assistance to the poor and deserving segments of society so that they could also enjoy the happiness of Eid, the president said.

“We should also not forget in our prayers for Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers who are fighting the tyrannical rules for achieving a separate homeland and independence,” the president added.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in his message said: “Islam gives a lesson of peace, sacrifice, tolerance, patience and forgiveness to entire mankind.” He said it was only through following these lessons that an exemplary society can be created and in spreading the noble human emotion of these lessons lie the welfare of any nation and region and indeed the prosperity of human race.

The prime minister added that for international relations and world peace too these lessons form the bedrock and foundation and a special responsibility in this regard devolves on the devotees of Millat-i-Ibrahimi to introduce the common teachings of their respective societies and lay the foundations of their relations with other countries, so that the false suspicions and divisions arising among various cultures can be removed.—Online
