KARACHI: Shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 10: An suspected bandit who was reportedly on a looting spree with his two accomplices was shot dead by an armed citizen who was also deprived of his cellular phone and cash near Masjid-i-Roomi on Tuesday.

Police said three suspects intercepted an Alto car near Kalapul, and after depriving the occupants of the car of cash and cell phones, they boarded the car taking them hostage.

Later, it transpired that one of the two occupants of the Alto car was a DSP of Special Branch.

Police said as the suspects reached Masjid-i-Roomi, they intercepted Amjad Khan of his cell phone and cash. They said as the suspects were fleeing, Amjad Khan opened fire at the suspects, wounding Younis who succumbed to his wounds.
