KARACHI: 401 bodies, seminaries allowed to collect hides
KARACHI, Jan 10: The City District Government Karachi said on Tuesday that it had allowed 401 social organizations and seminaries to collect hides of sacrificial animals in the limits the CDGK.
In this regard, a meeting was held here with City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal in the chair. The meeting was told that no social organization or seminary was allowed to set up camps or erect shamianas at any road, street or square in the city.
It was told that the CDGK
had provided the needed resources to the towns and union councils to remove offal and garbage from their respective areas.
The meeting was told that to cope with the incidents of snatching of hides Section 144 had already been imposed for eight days.
It was informed that to register complaints regarding snatching of hides and lifting of offal, the CDGK had set up three emergency centres that would work round the clock. The citizens could contact these centres over telephone numbers 134 (CDGK), 9205631-9205644 (EDO) and 9230918-9230919. Control rooms are also set up in all town offices.
The leaves of all staff related to health, cleanliness and sewerage at the CDGK, town and union council levels were cancelled, the meeting was told.
The city nazim, on the occasion, directed that more than 30 dumpers should be kept standby for the round-the-clock emergency duty at the 134 Complaint Centre. They would be dispatched to the affected areas to lift the offal after receiving complaints, he said.
The nazim said he would himself visit various parts of the city during the three days of the Eidul Azha to review the arrangements. He asked the officials concerned to send him a daily report regarding the general cleanliness in the city.
Syed Mustafa Kamal telephoned all town nazims and sought details of cleanliness arrangement for the Eid days in their respective towns.
He asked them to contact the CDGK if they needed any help. He said that all towns would be provided with required assistant.
He stressed that exemplary steps should be taken for maintaining the general cleanliness and satisfactory sanitary conditions throughout the city. — PPI
