Series to promote goodwill: Shaharyar

LAHORE, Jan 9: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shaharyar M Khan declared on Monday that Pakistan-India series would promote goodwill between the two countries and bring peoples closer to each other.

He was speaking at the unveiling of the cup of the Pakistan-India Test series.

PCB chief said the journey to improve the goodwill and friendship between the two countries started in 2004 with the historic tour of Indian cricketers, who toured Pakistan after 14 long years.

“This (journey) should not be stopped, it should go further not only to promote cricket but to enhance existing goodwill and friendly ties,” he added.

He said the duel will be between the players of two teams whereas people of both the countries will be enjoying quality cricket.

“It is a very important series not only beneficial for the cause of cricket but also help bringing closer the people of sub-continent,” he maintained.

He expressed the optimism that this event will be played in the best spirit of the game.—Agencies
