Bar office-bearers

SHEIKHUPURA, Jan 9: The annual elections of the district bar association were held here on Monday. Munawar Husain Chaudhry was elected as the new DBA president by securing 303 votes against his rival Muhammad Boota’s 297. The slot of secretary-general was bagged by Khalid Rasheed Malik who got 318 votes, defeating Rana Saifullah (285).

Aneela Nazir Chishti was elected as vice-president who got 343 votes while her rival Nadeem Akram Malik could secure 249 votes. Eighteen votes were cancelled on technical grounds.

Ten members of the DBA executive body were elected unopposed. For the first time in the bar’s history, a woman lawyer bagged the slot of vice-president.

Meanwhile, District Nazim Sahibzada Mian Jalil Ahmed Sharaqpuri, Naib Nazim Malik Rehmat Ali Dogar, ex-DBA president Chaudhry Ameer Afzal and others have congratulated the new-elected office-bearers.
