Demand for Eighth Wage Award Board

KARACHI, Jan 9: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (APNEC) have urged Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to constitute the Eighth Wage Board without any further delay as it should have been constituted under the law in July, 2005.

They expressed dismay over the indifferent attitude of the government towards the problems of journalists, including non-implementation of the Seventh Wage award.

The PFUJ and APNEC said the government should announce the name of the chairman of the Eighth Wage Board and seek board members from the PFUJ, APNEC, APNS and CPNE.

They also appealed to the chairman implementation tribunal to hold regular meetings for early disposal of years old cases of newspaper employees.
