KARACHI, Jan 9: City Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil said that filter plants would be installed at all the pumping stations in Lyari to provide clean drinking water to the area residents.

She stated this during her visit to the Lyari Town and its town office on Monday.

Lyari Town Nazim Malik Mohammad Fayyaz, Naib Nazim Abdullah Baloh, TMO Afaq Saeed, DO Health Dr Zafar Aijaz, UC nazims and other town officials were also present.

The town nazim apprised Ms Jalil about the numerous problems facing the area residents. She assured him that these would be discussed with the city nazim to come up with appropriate solution.

Referring to the funds of Rs50 million provided by the city nazim to each town, she hoped that this would help in resolving the water related issues of the towns.

Later, she took a round of the area and visited pumping stations of Pir Mohammad Road and Bihar Colony and also visited the Lyari Hospital.

Ms Jalil expressed dissatisfaction on the poor condition of the Lyari Hospital. On this, the town health officer told her that under the current year’s social service programme steps would be taken to improve the condition of the hospital.—APP
