KARACHI: More towns chalk out cleanliness plans for Eid


KARACHI, Jan 9: The town municipal administration of Saddar has finalized arrangements for cleanliness, disposal of offal of sacrificial animals and spray of insecticides on Eidul Azha.

In this connection Saddar Town Nazim Mohammad Dilawar held a meeting on Monday attended by Naib Nazim Nasir Taimuri, TMO Mukhtar Hussain, nazims and naib nazims of UCs and other town officials.

The meeting was informed that five collection points at Kikri Ground, Qasmit Cinema, Hasham Ali Road, Burns Road and Lilly Road (Frere Town) have been established for timely collection of offal.

The places where animals will be sacrificed will be sprayed with quicklime and bleaching powders.

The broken containers and vehicles were repaired and in case of any emergency the motor workshop would remain open during Eid holidays.

For swift lifting of offal, vehicles were also hired while from the narrow lanes, offal will be removed with the help of small trolleys.

The town nazim said that in order to respond to public complaints a control room with telephones 9211390 and 9211429 has been established besides emergency centres will also function on Eid days.

The town nazim asked the UC nazims, naib nazims, TMOs and other officials to supervise cleanliness activities in their respective areas.

SITE TOWN: The town municipal administration of SITE has divided the town in three zones and hired 60 private Suzuki pickups for removing the offal of the sacrificial animals during Eidul Azha.

Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed in a meeting of UC nazims, naib nazims and other town officials on Monday reviewed the arrangements.

According to the plans being finalized, the hired vehicles would visit different localities and remove the offal to bury them for which trenches have already been dug.

After some time the trenches would again be dug to use the offal as manure in gardens and parks.

The concerned staff would wash the localities after removing the offal and carry out fumigation. The staff would remain on duty from early morning to 9pm.

BALDIA TOWN: The town municipal administration of Baldia also communicated phone numbers of complaint centres set up in various UCs to deal with expected sanitation problems on Eidul Azha.

Similar complaint centre set up at central office of the municipal administration could be contacted via phone numbers: 2817275 and 2817191.

Other numbers are: UC-1 2817785, UC-2 2817800, UC-3 2817700, UC-4 2817529, UC-5 2817575, UC-6 2817711, UC-7 2564711 and UC-8 2575643.

The TMA in collaboration with UC-5 has also marked two places as slaughterhouses in UC-5. Special arrangements for light, security and for provision of sacrificial meat at doorstep have been made as well.—APP/PPI
